Layla Harrison

Layla Harrison (RBS DDT. BA Hons) has been teaching at Central in various positions since January 2020. She graduated from The Royal Ballet Lower and Upper Schools, and later returned to qualify as an RBS Vocational teacher. Layla also gained a BA Hons degree and Dip HE at London Studio Centre.

During her Ballet career, Layla worked with companies including The Royal Ballet, Kirov Ballet, English National Ballet and Scottish Ballet, performing many productions such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Romeo & Juliet and Giselle, Alice, Nutcracker, Cheating Lying Stealing, Carmen, Stars and Stripes, Jeux, and Rubies.

Musical Theatre credits include On The Town (Japan), Meg in Phantom of the Opera (West End), Oliver!, Ragged Child (USA/Canada), Olivier Awards (ROH). Film/TV/Commercial credits include Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Nutcracker & The Four Realms, Streetdance, Ballet Russes, and Filth & Wisdom, Ertu Culture, Marriott Hotel, Poirot (I.T.V.), South Bank Show (I.T.V.), and Margot (BBC).

Layla has been teaching for 24 years. She has taught/adjudicated in the UK, Australia, Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Africa and is a regular judge for The Dance World Cup. She has taught for many establishments including The Royal Ballet School, Central School of Ballet, Urdang, Hammond, Danceworks, Pineapple and WAC. Layla teaches open classes for professional dancers and taught company classes for An American In Paris and On the Town. She choreographs for dance schools and coaches pre-vocational students privately, with many going into professional training and work. Layla founded Dunsford Performing Arts in 1999, directing annual courses/workshops, and currently runs her own classes alongside her vocational teaching.
