Older children and teenagers age 11 and above can take part in a popular programme of one day courses as well as longer programmes, such as Spring and Summer courses. The range of courses for both boys and girls are designed to offer a diversity of dance disciplines to improve classical technique as well as explore new styles of dance in the setting of a vocational ballet school. One Day Ballet Intensive (11-13 years)

Course Outline

This course is part of Central’s popular series of One Day Ballet Intensives for girls and boys of different ages and abilities. The day aims to introduce dancers to the experience of training in a vocational Ballet school. Note that this course is specifically for dancers with a minimum of RAD Intermediate Foundation or equivalent in the 11-13 age range.  The one day course includes classes in ballet and repertoire as well as an additional discipline such as jazz, Pilates, contemporary or improvisation, providing participants with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the experience of training at Central, a world-class professional training organisation.

Course Outline

This course is part of Central’s popular series of One Day Ballet Intensives for girls and boys of different ages and abilities. The day aims to develop dancers experience of training in a vocational ballet school taught by teachers from Central’s degree faculty. Note that this course is specifically for young people with a minimum of RAD Intermediate or equivalent in the 14-16 age range. The Audition Preparation course includes ballet, coaching and contemporary classes, all taught by degree course tutors, providing participants with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the experience of training at Central, a world-class professional training organisation.

Dance Around the World (8-16 years)

A Dance Around The World workshop for all young people aged 8-16. The course will boast an exciting diversity of dance styles and allow participants to learn about four styles of dance from different cultures across the globe.

Course Outline

Dancers will experience Central’s ballet training taught by degree course tutors and have the opportunity to try a variety of new dance styles. Past courses have included masterclasses in Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Tumbling. Central’s undergraduate students will perform for attendees at the end of the day.

Spring Course (11-16 years)

The Spring Course offer aspiring dancers aged 11-16 the opportunity to experience a taste of full-time professional training at Central School of Ballet and to learn from tutors who teach Central’s Foundation and BA Undergraduate courses.

The course offers aspiring dancers aged 11-16 the opportunity to experience a taste of full-time professional training at Central School of Ballet and to learn from tutors who teach Central’s Foundation and BA Undergraduate programmes. The course includes a Ballet class every day, with pointe work / boys coaching scheduled for every alternate day. Other classes are included to provide experience of various dance and related disciplines such as Contemporary, Repertoire and Pilates. Subject to the length of the course, other dance disciplines such as Jazz, Character or Creative Choreography may also be included and, subject to the minimum number of boys applying, a boy’s only Ballet class will also be scheduled. Participation in Central’s Spring Course is subject to meeting the age and minimum grade requirements. Please note, accommodation and meals are not provided on this course.

International Summer Courses (11-16 years)

The Summer Courses attract talented dancers from around the globe and provide an immersive taste of life in full-time training at Central School of Ballet. There are one week and two week courses available. Optional English lessons can be booked for international students attending the two week course for an additional fee.

Open to boys and girls aged 11-16 years old, in school years 7-11, with a minimum of RAD Intermediate Foundation or equivalent for 11-13 years and a minimum of RAD Intermediate or equivalent for 14-16 years.

Course Outline

Dance Days are designed to provide a series of sample or taster classes to support participants’ current dance training programme, and to inform about life for students on a professional training course and how to access full-time vocational training with Central School of Ballet. The one day events are held annually in locations around the UK for young dancers aged 11-16 years who are hoping to pursue full-time vocational training in a Higher Education setting.

Dance Days include classes in Ballet and Contemporary led by Central School of Ballet’s undergraduate tutors, designed to emulate Central’s audition process. The Ballet class includes pointe work for girls and coaching for boys.
