Half Term Courses

Every half term children aged 4-16 can take part in a range of half term courses across diverse dance disciplines to improve dance technique, explore new styles of dance, and have fun in the setting of a vocational ballet school. Find out more about the range of courses on offer here.

One Day Ballet Intensive (14-16 years)

This intensive ballet course offers participants the opportunity to improve classical technique in the setting of a full-time vocational ballet school.

Participants should wear their regular ballet uniform of leotard, tights, and ballet shoes, including pointe shoes for girls. Convertible tights can be worn for ease of transition between classes

Course Outline

This course is part of Central’s popular series of One Day Ballet Intensives for girls and boys of different ages and abilities. The day aims to develop dancers experience of training in a vocational ballet school taught by teachers from Central’s degree faculty. Note that this course is specifically for young people with a minimum of RAD Intermediate or equivalent in the 14-16 age range. The Audition Preparation course includes Ballet, Coaching and Contemporary classes, all taught by degree course tutors, providing participants with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the experience of training at Central, a world-class professional training organisation.

One Day Ballet Intensive (8-10 yrs)

This intensive ballet course offers participants the opportunity to improve classical technique in the setting of a full-time vocational ballet school.

Younger boys and girls, age 4-7, can engage in a fun, informative ballet class and learn repertoire.

This course is open to all children aged 4-7 years old. No previous experience in ballet is required.

Please ensure that your child is wearing clothing that is comfortable to move around in, such as a t-shirt and leggings or shorts. An extra T-shirt for the arts and crafts sessions is recommended.

Course Outline

Younger boys and girls, age 4-7, can engage in a fun, informative ballet class, learn repertoire and create repertoire-inspired crafts in Arts and Crafts sessions. The course is open to all abilities and no previous experience in ballet is required. The course is taught by a member of Central School of Ballet’s Junior School teaching faculty and will be centred on a particular ballet or theme. Participants will create performance and craft work that helps to develop their understanding of the chosen ballet. At the end of the course, parents are invited to watch their children perform and participants can take their craft work home with them afterwards.  There is no uniform required for this class, instead children should wear comfortable clothing to allow free movement, such as T-Shirt and leggings or shorts. An extra T-shirt for the arts and crafts sessions is recommended.

Dance Around the World (8-16 years)

A Dance Around The World workshop for all young people aged 8-16. The course will boast an exciting diversity of dance styles and allow participants to learn about four styles of dance from different cultures across the globe.
