Edward Kemp

Edward Kemp is a writer, director and dramaturg. From 2008-2021 he was Director of RADA, during which time he was also Principal of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama from 2009-2017. With choreographer Cathy Marston he has written more than 20 ballets, including work for the Royal Ballet, Ballet Black and Northern Ballet, and for San Francisco, Joffrey, Bern, Royal Danish and Zurich companies. Edward has written for the National Theatre, RSC, Young Vic, Hampstead, Complicite, Chichester, Leeds and BBC Radio, as well as the Royal Opera House, BBC Proms and Glyndebourne. He has directed at the National Theatre, Chichester, Leeds, Edinburgh Traverse, Scarborough and Battersea Arts Centre and across North America. He is currently Chief Executive of the Royal Literary Fund.
