Overview

Course Summary

Join Central’s online eight week professional dance course specifically for young professional dancers and recent graduates, designed to provide dance and fitness training alongside performance tuition and dance industry connections. This course aims to support resilience development and specific skills following the impact of the COVID pandemic that caused widespread theatre and venue closures with resulting effects on jobs and opportunities.

The aim is to provide core skills to all dance genres: classical ballet dancers, contemporary professionals, and those in musical theatre in-between contracts.

The course is for dancers age 18 years and over and includes 20 online classes and costs £99, less than £5 per class (see below for selected discounts):

  • Eight ballet courses delivered by renowned professionals
  • Four sessions with performance and wellbeing psychologist Dr Lucie Clements
  • Three HIIT classes
  • Five yoga classes
  • Age 18 years and above

Tutors

Anna Brodrick

Anna graduated from Brunel University as a physiotherapist (BSc. Hons) in 1999. She has Master’s Degree in Sports Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine and  has specialised in sports injuries treating professional footballers, tennis players and cricketers as well as dancers. Anna has worked at the Royal Ballet School (Upper), English National Ballet Company, English National Ballet School and the Royal Society of Medicine. She joined Central School of Ballet in 2008 and has continued her research interests in bone health, injury profiling and cardiovascular fitness in dancers. Anna created Springboard Dance Pro alongside colleagues at Central.

Aisling Brangan

Aisling grew up in Kildare, Ireland and trained at Central School of Ballet.  She joined Scottish Ballet in 2013 and was promoted to Soloist in 2019.

Dr Lucie Clements

Lucie is a Chartered Psychologist (British Psychological Society) providing evidence-based psychoeducational workshops and consultancy for performing artists both in vocational training and for professional companies.  Lucie trained in classical ballet, but injury led her to transition into studying Psychology.  Her expertise lies in promoting individual psychological wellbeing and developing positive psychosocial climates within dance.

Sarah Kundi

Sarah Kundi trained at Central School of Ballet  and joined English National Ballet in 2014.  She was promoted to First Artist in 2018.  Her previous dance companies include Northern Ballet and Ballet Black.  She was nominated for a National Dance Award in 2009 and awarded the Corps de Ballet Award at English National Ballet in 2017.

Crystal Costa

Crystal is a former First Soloist at English National Ballet and Principal Dancer of Hong Kong Ballet.  She now loves sharing her love of ballet as a teacher. Crystal is also a 700 hour RYT qualified yoga teacher.

Thomas Edwards

Thomas Edwards trained at Central School of Ballet. During his three years at Central Thomas reached the finals in both the ‘Young British Dancer of the Year’ 2012 and the ‘Prix de Lasuanne’ 2013. He joined Scottish Ballet in 2013, and in 2016 he was promoted to First Artist, then promoted to Soloist in 2018.

Kit Holder

Kit Holder is a First Soloist with Birmingham Royal Ballet.  During a career spanning over 20 years Kit has danced in roles across the company’s repertoire. Kit is also an accomplished choreographer with a Master’s Degree in Choreography creating pieces for Birmingham Royal Ballet and other dance companies. In addition to his work as a dancer, Kit works with elite athletes on aspects of performance presentation and embodied psychology.
