Central Welcomes Local Residents to Weekly Neighbourhood Classes

Central School of Ballet announced today that two weekly neighbourhood classes for adults will be available at the studios from Thursday 15 June with heavily discounted rates for local Southwark and Lambeth residents. The classes aim to welcome the local community into the school and encourage participation in dance in Southwark and Lambeth. Both classes will be open to adults of all abilities and will be available to book a week before the class takes place.

Local residents will be able to try Contemporary African dance with expert teacher, Francis Angol. Francis aims to introduce adults to Contemporary African dance in a fun and enjoyable class that will leave you energised and connected from within. The class is rooted in the teachings and practices of dance from the African Diaspora combined with Contemporary dance and will take place every Thursday evening from 7PM to 8:30PM, with the first class running on Thursday 15 June.

On Friday evenings, a Beginners Ballet class will be available taught by Central School of Ballet graduate, Lucy Bishop-Laggett. The class will be open to all, offering an introduction to ballet for those who have no previous dance experience or those who are returning to ballet after taking classes as a child. The hour-long class taking place every Friday from 6PM will provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for adults to feel comfortable learning ballet for the first time.

Central’s neighbourhood classes offer an opportunity for the local community to come together, try something new, and engage in the joys of dance. Southwark and Lambeth residents can access the discounted price of £6 by inputting the code CSBnh23 when booking a class. Participants will need to show a Southwark presents card or alternative proof of address when arriving at the class. For those joining from further afield, the regular £12 class price is available.

Bookings open from Friday 9 June for the first two classes on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 June.
