Central moves into new studios in Southwark!

Central is pleased to report the news that students are beginning to use the school’s stunning new facilities at The Countess of Wessex Studios in London’s South Bank arts community in Southwark.  These bespoke new premises are the result of a long-held ambition to provide state-of-the-art facilities to match the excellence in training for which Central is renowned.

Ambitious young dance students were the first to make use of the studios at the weekend, attending auditions for the Associate Programme, the pre-vocational programme of Saturday classes for students aged between 11and 16 years who are aiming for professional dance training.  Today, Monday 7th June, final year undergraduate students continued their rehearsals for the forthcoming Ballet Central tour in the Gable Theatre and Gosman Studio.  Other groups of undergraduate and postgraduate students will join their fellow dancers in the days to follow, able to enjoy training and being in vibrant Southwark.  By the start of the new academic year in September all activities will be hosted in the new building, from adult classes to the Junior School with classes for a range of age groups.

The new premises feature amenities to rival dance training facilities anywhere in the UK; seven studios, a fully equipped studio theatre, study and resource centres.  Students will be making use of a state-of-the-art health suite providing psychology, nutrition, physiotherapy, Pilates and recovery from injury programme.  The aim is to become a hub for a dynamic dance community combining excellence in dance training for those aiming for a professional career and a programme of opportunities for the local Southwark community.
