Ballet Central to perform in Ballet Nights New Futures, founded by Central alumni Jamiel Devernay-Laurence

22 May 2026

On 9 June, Ballet Nights will bring together seven of the UK’s leading ballet and contemporary vocational training programmes for a celebration of what’s next in dance. A landmark moment for the sector, Central School of Ballet is delighted to perform alongside other leading schools and to showcase the talent of the Ballet Central company.

For the first time, audiences will witness seven of the top British schools come together on one stage; The Royal Ballet School, English National Ballet School, Elmhurst Ballet School, Rambert School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and Central School of Ballet.

Performing works from some of the greatest choreographic voices, including Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Sir David Bintley, Ashley Page OBE, and Hofesh Shechter OBE, among others, this is an ambitious show, unlike anything you have ever seen before.

Ballet Nights is a new dance tradition, crafted to celebrate the stories of dance and dancers worldwide, and shared with both new audiences and lifelong dance fans. Ballet Nights shows are one-night-only events, presenting short works and live music, with a compère guiding the evening. First launched in London in 2023, Ballet Nights was founded by Jamiel Devernay-Laurence, a graduate of Central School of Ballet.

A former Soloist with Scottish Ballet, Jamiel’s early creative career resulted in distinctive choreographic and film works. Upon retiring, Jamiel founded his trail-blazing production house, Fundamentally Dance, and through it has redefined the dance experience for audiences in the UK and abroad.

Central School of Ballet first premiered at Ballet Nights in February 2026, performing in Ballet Nights 010: DecaDance at Cadogan Hall. Marking the tenth landmark programme in London, the night also featured a special performance by Royal Ballet Principal Matthew Ball, as well as a duet by Northern Ballet dancer and Central School of Ballet MA graduate, George Liang.

Ballet Nights is now turning its full attention to the emerging talent in the UK’s leading training programmes. Join us and many others for this inspiring evening dedicated to the next generation of dance. To find out more and book tickets, visit balletnights.com/newfutures.
