Robert Cohan leads masterclass at Central

Calendar Posted 28 March 2018

Today, Central welcomed Robert Cohan into school to lead a masterclass with the Second year students on the degree programme.

A leading figure in modern dance in the UK, Robert pioneered the teaching of contemporary dance technique, having trained at the Martha Graham School, later joining Martha Graham Dance Company and having performed as a partner to Graham herself.

Robert was the first Artistic Director of the Contemporary Dance Trust in London and as such was the founder Artistic Director of The Place London Contemporary Dance School and London Contemporary Dance Theatre, which he directed for the next 20 years.

It was a privilege for the school and our students to work with Robert today, and Yolande Yorke-Edgell from the Yorke Dance Project who assisted with the class.
