Nine Nutcracker shows for Ballet Central

Calendar Posted 17 December 2018

Last week from Thursday to Saturday Ballet Central performed nine sold-out performances of the Nutcracker.at the ADC Theatre in Cambridge.

The auditorium was filled with children of all ages transfixed by the magic of the Christmas classic. One audience member said it was "simply stunning" and a "most wonderful Christmas treat", whilst another said "it was such a great way to introduce kids to ballet".

Central created special free Nutcracker activity packs for the children to take home, and children also had the opportunity to have their photo taken with some of the dancers in costume. Central and the students hope that the performances have inspired many future generations of young dancers to come.

Ballet Central will be announcing dates and venues for the annual tour in the new year.. It will be an opportunity to see young dancers on the cusp of their professional careers perform a varied programme of classical ballet and contemporary dance theatre. Highlights include Christopher Marney’s Carousel Dances, inspired by the 1945 musical Carousel by Rodgers and Hammerstein, a unique version of the Dying Swan Solo created by Calvin Richardson, and the Company is delighted to present an extract from Frederick Ashton’s acclaimed Valses Nobles et Sentimentales performed to Maurice Ravel’s suite of waltzes.
