Central tutor wins gold at International Powerlifting Championships

Calendar Posted 8 July 2019

In June, Central’s second year lady’s ballet tutor, Linda Moran competed at the International Powerlifting Federation World Classic Championships in Helsingborg, Sweden. Linda became the World Champion for her age and weight class, also winning gold medals in the squat and deadlift events and overall second place Best Lifter of her age category.

Linda commented on her achievements: “Boosted by my success at the European Championships in March, I trained hard for the World Championships. Sustaining an injury shortly before the competition meant that I could not train my deadlift, so I focused on the lifts I could do. I went into the competition with a positive mindset, keeping my goals clear and realistic. It is so important for dance students to have SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time based), and to be able to respond to set-backs with a clear plan of action to maintain motivation and recover and progress with increased knowledge and self-awareness. At Central, the tutors and support staff work closely with the students to ensure a holistic approach to training is maintained, focusing on physical, emotional development and well-being.”
