Central students perform at the Classical Brit Awards

Calendar Posted 16 June 2018

On Wednesday evening three Central students performed at the Classical Brit Awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall.

Along with other dancers, they performed a work choreographed by Jenna Lee. Jenna's choreography for the piece was inspired by the music, Bluebird Suite composed by Alexis Ffrench.

The suite features four sections, 'Bluebird', 'Shosholoza', 'Una Voce Poco Fa' and 'Coda/ Shosholoza'. The piece centres on the story of a lost spirit and her interplay with light which is seen as a transforming/ life-giving force. She is compelled to breathe hope and love into everyone whom she meets.

The choreography was a mix of classical and contemporary ballet. A strong emphasis was placed on the lighting of the piece with the use of both screens and lanterns.

You can watch the performance on television tomorrow evening, Sunday 17 on ITV, 10.30pm-12.15am.
