Central holds annual auditions in Japan
Posted 9 November 2018
Central is holding its annual auditions in Japan. Over the next week Director Heidi Hall and Artistic Director Christopher Marney are holding auditions and staging workshops in Osaka and Tokyo. Central graduates from Japan will also attend Q&A sessions to share their experiences of training in London.
Central has a long and established relationship with the dance community in Japan. Director Heidi Hall says “Japanese student dancers show enormous commitment to training, work hard and are focused on achievement. These are qualities, along with the required talent, are the pre-requisites for a career as a professional dancer.”
She continues: “We have been recruiting directly from Japan for 30 years and interest continues to grow. We visit selected towns and cities in Japan every autumn to run master classes in ballet and contemporary dance with local dance schools so that potential students can learn about what we have to offer at Central and where our training may lead in jobs terms.”
Recent Japanese graduates from Central are now employed by companies all over the world including: Orlando Ballet in the US, Alberta Ballet in Canada, Tokyo City Ballet, Shiki Theatre Company and K Ballet in Japan, Cinevox Dance Company in Switzerland and Compagnie Chorégraphique François Mauduit in France.
