Central dancers shortlisted for BBC Young Dancer

Calendar Posted 9 November 2018

Central is pleased to share that two second year students, Emily Pohl and Keiko Tsuchiya have been shortlisted for the BBC Young Dancer 2019 Competition. All at Central are committed to supporting the dancers in this competition as they fit in additional coaching around their degree curriculum.

The BBC Young Dancer competition was first held in 2015 and is a biannual event. Dancers enter through submitting an application form alongside a video, and are then shortlisted.

Central students Emily and Keiko will attend the second round of the competition on 13 December at Lilian Baylis Studio at Sadler's Wells, where they will both perform their prepared works, both in the classical ballet category.

After this round there are Category Finals in March 2019, with the Grand Final at Birmingham Hippodrome in May 2019, which will also be broadcast on BBC Two.

The winner of the competition will be awarded the title of BBC Young Dancer 2019, a prize of £3000 to help support and further their dance studies and a specially-commissioned trophy.
