Older children and teenagers age 11 and above can take part in a popular programme of one day courses as well as longer programmes, such as Spring and Summer courses. The range of courses for both boys and girls are designed to offer a diversity of dance disciplines to improve classical technique as well as explore new styles of dance in the setting of a vocational Ballet school. One Day Ballet Intensive (11-13 years)

This intensive Ballet course offers participants the opportunity to improve classical technique in the setting of a full-time vocational Ballet school.

Course Outline

This course is part of Central’s popular series of One Day Ballet Intensives for girls and boys of different ages and abilities.   The day aims to introduce dancers to the experience of training in a vocational Ballet school taught by Central’s Degree Programme faculty.  Note that this course is specifically for girls at RAD Grade 4 or equivalent in the 11-13 age range.  The one day course includes classes in Ballet and Repertoire as well as an additional discipline such as Jazz, Pilates, Contemporary or Improvisation, providing participants with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the experience of training at Central, a world-leading professional training organisation.

Audition Preparation One Day Course for 14-16 years

An intensive course that offers participants the opportunity to improve classical technique in the setting of a full-time vocational Ballet school. This course is specifically aimed at aspiring dancers hoping to pursue vocational dance training at the age of 16.

Course Outline

This course for boys and girls age 14-16 years is specifically aimed at aspiring dancers hoping to pursue vocational dance training at the age of 16.  Classes in Ballet and Repertoire are included, as well as pointe work for girls and allegro for boys. The courses also include a class in an additional discipline such as Jazz, Pilates, Contemporary or Improvisation, providing participants with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the experience of training at Central School of Ballet. The course will also include a panel discussion about Central’s Degree course where participants will be able to ask questions about in life in a professional training environment and full-time training at Central, from the audition process to the syllabus, including fees and accommodation, answered by Central’s management and teaching body.

Dance Around the World (8-16 years)

A Dance Around The World workshop for all young people aged 8-16. The course will boast an exciting diversity of dance styles and allow participants to learn about four styles of dance from different cultures across the globe.

Central’s One Day Musical Theatre Course provides participants with the opportunity to learn songs and choreography from a well-known musical. This Half Term the Musical Theatre Day will be based on the popular musical, School of Rock.

Course Outline

Central’s One Day Musical Theatre Course provides participants with the opportunity to learn songs and choreography from a well-known musical. Parents are invited into the studio at the end of the day to watch a performance of songs and choreography the students have learned during the course. This October Half Term participants will learn songs and choreography from the popular musical, School of Rock.

Boys Move (8-18)

Boys Move is Central’s annual one day event for boys ages 8-18 years, open to a range of ability levels, from beginners to more experienced dancers and includes classes in a variety of dance styles and disciplines.

The Spring Course offer aspiring dancers aged 11-16 the opportunity to experience a taste of full-time professional training at Central School of Ballet and to learn from tutors who teach Central’s Foundation and BA Undergraduate courses.

Applications for this academic year’s Dance Day’s will open via our website in due course. Please note that this year the Glasgow and Leeds Dance Days are being held with restrictions in place. Details of these are given on the website and in an information pack that participants will receive ahead of the course. Should any guidelines change you will be updated.

£55; parents are invited to watch any or all of the classes scheduled on the Dance Day for a £5 fee, payable on the day. Due to Covid guidelines at Dance School of Scotland and Northern Ballet, parents will be unable to watch classes for the additional fee at the Glasgow or Leeds Dance Days.

Course Outline

Dance Days are designed to provide a series of sample or taster classes to support participants’ current dance training programme, and to inform about life for students on a professional training course and how to access full-time vocational training with Central School of Ballet. The one day events are held annually in locations around the UK for young dancers aged 11-16 years who are hoping to pursue full-time vocational training in a Higher Education setting.

Dance Days include classes in Ballet and Contemporary led by Central School of Ballet’s undergraduate tutors, designed to emulate Central’s audition process. The Ballet class includes pointe work for girls and coaching for boys. At the London Dance Day, a Q&A session will be scheduled during the day to allow participants and their parents to ask a panel of Central’s undergraduate teaching faculty, alumni, and representatives from the school’s management team questions and learn more about auditioning and life in full time training at Central. Due to Covid restrictions the Q&A will not be held on the Glasgow or Leeds Dance Days this year, however students will have a separate opportunity to take part in an online Q&A.
