Boys Courses

Boys Move 2019 - Sunday 28 April 2019

Please note, there are limited spaces available for the 8-10 years group

If you are a Junior School pupil or a Prep and Pre-Senior student, wishing to apply, please contact the Widening Participation & Access Office prior to applying

Boys Move 2019 is for boys aged 8-18 years. The day is aimed at beginners through to more experienced dancers and will include a ballet class led by Senior School male ballet tutors.Other classes may include Circus Skills, Capoeira, Stage Combat, and a creative workshop including Contact work.

Times for the day are as follows:

8-10 years: 12noon - 5pm (£15)

11-18 years: 10am - 5pm (£25)

Upcoming Central Courses for Boys in 2019

Central hold Boys only courses and mixed courses for both boys and girls. These are designed for a range of applicants, catering for young children through to those wishing to enter full time vocational training. Please find below the range of courses available for boys.

Spring and Summer Courses

Central’s Spring and Summer courses offer the opportunity to experience life in full-time vocational dance training. A ballet class is timetabled every day and pointe / boys coaching scheduled for every alternate day. Additional classes include Pilates; Contemporary and Repertoire, as well as Jazz and Character, depending on the course length. Guest tutors and choreographers have also been invited on previous Courses, to lead a masterclass on Creative Choreography or Improvisation.

Subject to the minimum number of boys applying, boys only Ballet classes may also be offered. Applicants need to have a minimum of RAD Grade 5/ RAD Intermediate Foundation or equivalent, including pointe work.

Please note, that 11 year olds applying for the Spring and Summer Course 2019, need to have turned 11 by 1 September 2018.

Boys Move

Boys Move is a day for 8-18 year old boys, from beginners to more experienced dancers, and is led by all male Tutors. Previous courses have included lessons in Ballet, Contemporary, and workshops led by leading Dance professionals.

Centrals Boys Move 2019 will take place on Sunday 28 April 2019. Further details and Application Forms will be announced in due course.

One Day Ballet Intensives

One Day Ballet Intensives are predominantly for girls only, however, there are additional Intensives offered for both boys and girls where boys coaching and Pas de Deux often feature. These courses are for applicants who meet standard requirements.

In February Half Term, Central hosted a One Day Ballet Intensive for 14-16 year old boys and girls, including separate boys and girls Ballet classes, Pas de Deux and Improvisation. Participants were also given the opportunity to watch Ballet Central in rehearsal.

4-7 years One Day Ballet Courses

These courses offer boys and girls aged 4-7 years, of all ability levels, to partake in a Ballet class, learn Repertoire and explore a theme further through Arts and Crafts sessions.

Dance Blast

Dance Blasts for 8-13 year olds, are designed for boys and girls of all ability levels, providing an opportunity to try different dance styles in a fun and engaging day. Central held two Dance Blast days in February Half Term, one for 8-10 years and one for 11-13 years. Classes were delivered in Jazz, Ballet, Creative Choreography, and African Contemporary.
